--  Representatives from the Literacy Council and The Newport Library will hand out literature and answer questions. Additional literature on writing will also be available.

  --  At the open mike, anyone can read. You do not have to be a published writer to read here. There will also be readings by local published writers, who will have their books available for sale.

There will be a coffeehouse atmosphere at the Nook with, yes, coffee and snacks available while you listen to the readers. A journal “kit” will be for sale to anyone interested in keeping a journal. The kit contains concrete advice and inspiration for starting and maintaining a journal. It was put together by “Siggy”, a member of the PCCA sponsored Sophie's Reaction writers' group, who has kept journals for over thirty years.
